Version 4.3 - Patch Notes!


Version 4.3

Smaller update - school work is starting to ramp up. AoE tower and galactics will be releasing in the next update as usual.

New Stuff

  • New map: Giant's Railroad!
    • An homage to Will_Wam Tower Defense 3's Station map, but redesigned completely with extra detail! Endure limited space and two fairly short paths... and constant rainfall.
  • New game mode: Home Defense!
    • We're on a game mode roll, aren't we? All projectiles seek, and projectiles that already seek are enhanced, but be wary of the extra strong blocks.
  • Roguelike
    • Further improved RNG algorithm
    • New card: Long Term Investment!
      • Rare card. All income increased by 1% for every $100 held, then halves your money.
    • New card: Permastall!
      • Golden card. Stun durations increased by 50%.

Misc Balance Changes

  • Rounds
    • Round 42 Purple Skull count reduced 180 → 120
    • Round 45 Aerial Skull duration reduced 3s → 1.5s
    • Round 46 Regen count increased 8 → 12
    • Round 47 Double Skulls count increased 11 → 16
    • Round 48 Aerial Skull count increased 10 → 15
    • Round 49 Purple Skull count increased 45 → 60
    • Round 49 Regen count increased 12 → 16
    • Round 56 Saturn count increased 2 → 3 
    • Round 58 Saturn count increased 2 → 3
    • Round 59 Saturn count increased 2 → 4
    • Round 60 Saturn count increased 3 → 5
    • Rounds 51-60 random round scaling increased 1,200 → 1,500
    • Rounds 61-100 random round scaling increased 2,000 → 3,000
    • Rounds 101+ random round scaling increased 3,000 → 5,000
    • The late 40s were just an easier version of the early 40s, especially in Planet mode. Round scaling in the 50s has been increased so Aliens Block and Shield Prime's side abilities aren't completely unnoticeable.
  • Roguelike
    • Extended Basics
      • Range bonus increased +8 → +10
    • Extended Basics doesn't provide enough of a boost to be worth even over generalist cards like Faster Reload and Increased Luck.

Tower Balance Changes

  • Basic
    • 3xx Critical Hit bolt attack speed reduced 1.7s → 1.8s
    • 320 Critical Hit bolt attack speed increased 0.9975s → 0.945s
      • previous value was intended to be 0.8925s
    • 5xx Psuedo-Conjurer bolt attack speed reduced 0.7s → 0.75s
    • 520 Psuedo-Conjurer bolt attack speed reduced 0.392s → 0.39375s
      • previous value was intended to be 0.3675s
    • Psuedo-Conjurer remains a very strong tower that only needs support on rounds 34 and 39.
  • Splitter
    • 140 Razor Flurry pierce increased 40 → 45
    • 240 Razor Flurry pierce increased 50 → 60
    • xx3 Nail Sprayer cost reduced $240 → $220
    • xx4 Red Death cost reduced $725 → $700
    • xx5 Hyperdrive cost reduced $3,000 → $2,900
    • Bottom path splitters have fallen behind in normal games, but remain close to meta in bosses. They'll receive small price drops for now, with larger buffs later if needed. Razor Flurry has become outclassed by Oven Breakdowns after their rework, especially the top crosspath.
  • Freezer
    • x4x Hail Storm now briefly freezes the entire map every 30s
    • x5x Avalanche passive is no longer affected by attack speed buffs
    • [bugfix] x5x Avalanche cooldown reduced 50s → 30s
    • x5x Avalanche passive now has an initial cooldown of 15s
    • xx5 Elite Halt slowdown to Green Skulls, Blue Skulls and Purple Skulls reduced 100% → 95%
    • Elite Halt has proven far too powerful as a stalling tower, especially compared to other options. Hail Storm is also becoming a thematic stepping stone towards the tier 5. Being able to buy upgrades and trigger an Avalanche, as well as it being affected by attack speed buffs, were unintended, so now it has an initial cooldown and is no longer buffable.
  • Flamethrower
    • 3xx Special Flames pierce increased 2 → 3
    • 3xx Special Flames elite bonus reduced +6 → +4 (8 → 6 total)
    • 4xx Blockrangs damage reduced 5 → 4
    • 4xx Blockrangs elite bonus increased +15 → +10 (20 → 14 total)
    • 5xx Ultraviolet Rangs elite bonus reduced +75 → +65 (100 → 90 total)
    • xx2 attack speed reduced 0.098s → 0.1s
    • xx3 Holy Volcano attack speed reduced 0.049s → 0.05s
    • xx4 Megacolossal Sphinx attack speed remains at 0.06s
    • Top path's recent rework was an oversight on my end so this will be reverted, with extra nerfs to Blockrangs as it has proven to be overtuned.
  • Ship
    • x2x cost reduced $75 → $70
    • x3x Piracy cost reduced $220 → $210
    • x4x Plagiarism cost reduced $460 → $445
    • Middle path ship has slowly faded out of the meta as new towers have been introduced that fill its role, but better. Bluebeard still remains as a decent win condition so will not be receiving a direct price cut.
  • Hangar
    • x5x Festive Delivery cost increased $3,200 → $3,600
    • 013 Spike Drops spike attack speed increased 1s → 0.9s
    • Festive Delivery remains a strong win condition even after the recent nerfs. 023+ hangars have been outclassed by the traditional 203s so are getting a slight attack speed increase.
  • Friskus
    • 5xx Ultimate Frisbee cost increased $3,400 → $3,500
    • A small nerf to Ultimate Frisbee to tone down its potency slightly.
  • Light Keeper
    • x4x Ray Burst now has an initial cooldown of 7.5s
    • 042 Ray Burst now has an initial cooldown of 6.25s
    • Standardising all passives to have an initial cooldown also - transformation based passives are coded differently so will not receive these changes yet.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Gridpedia not unlocking at all
  • Fixed Golden Bargain card not working properly
  • Fixed DNA card not working at all
  • Fixed Shield Prime not playing some sound effects
  • Fixed 502 Ace Carrier planes not shooting at all
