Version 6.1 - Patch Notes!


Yeah, updates have slowed down... but that doesn't mean they've stopped! Introducing Roguelite and more Power Challenge, and some ultra spicy balance changes!

New Stuff

  •  Roguelite
    • New card: Bias!
      • Common card. +0.1 luck for every $200 held.
    • New card: Big Planes!
      • Uncommon card. Hangars pad size increased by 20%, but their planes gain +1 damage and pierce.
    • New card: Growth!
      • Uncommon card. Projectiles grow in damage as they travel.
    • New card: UNO Reverse Card!
      • Rare card. Attacks gain pierce when hitting blocks moving backwards.
    • New card: Clearance!
      • Golden card. All base-tower-specific discounts affect every base tower, and all upgrade-specific discounts affect every upgrade.
    • Considering the last several updates offered no new cards, it's time for a massive new set of even more interesting bonuses and synergies!
  • 5 new Power and Puzzle challenges each!
    • It's time to revive this part of the game with 10 extremely difficult challenges for those who want them...

General Changes

  • Turning down projectile size below 100% now hides most effects
    • This also fixes the lag spikes when using Silver's Return and other effect-heavy towers!
  • Boss spawn offset randomness is now correctly influenced by the seed

Tower Specific Changes

  • Splitter
    • Flipped the colour gradient for 3xx Oven-Cooked and Restricted Zone nails
    • Slightly changed the colour of Restricted Zone nails

Power Challenge Specific Changes

  • All Power and Puzzle challenges are now unlocked by default
  • Added animations when entering the panel
  • Upgrades can now be restricted in certain challenges (including the new ones!)
  • Puzzle 1
    • Starting cash increased $345 → $350
    • Splitter upgrades restricted to 000
    • Counteracting some buffer nerfs down below, as well as helping players get to the solution even faster with some upgrade restrictions.
  • Puzzle 15
    • Starting lives increased 35 → 40
    • With some older Battleship changes a while back, this challenge just became impossible so this has been remedied.

Game Mode Specific Changes

  • Sandbox
    • Can now set Galactics' levels between -98 and 1,000,000
      • Galactics in normal gameplay unchanged (100 max)
  • Roguelite
    • Changed the name slightly as you can tell :P
    • Multi Target
      • Aerial bonus to base damage bonus reduced 30% → 25%
    • Ace of Spades
      • Plane lifespan bonus reduced +40% → +30%
    • Flame Discounts
      • Flamethrower upgrade discount reduced 25% → 20%
    • Shrinking
      • Health reduction to elites reduced 10% → 9%
    • Death Eaters
      • Max damage increase to bottom path Friskus reduced +50% → +45%
    • Global Refridgeration
      • Slowdown reduced 25% → 22%
    • Golden Bargain
      • Golden upgrade discount reduced 33.33% → 25%
    • Jester
      • Transformation price range changed 1.6-2x → 1.44-2.16x
    • Long Term Investment
      • Cash needed per 1% income bonus reduced $100 → $90
    • Bouncer Crusher
      • xx5 Instability and UCoH damage bonus on bounce increased +80 → +100
    • Duplication
      • Extra projectiles increased +1 → +2
    • Nuclear Fusion
      • [bugfix] Damage and pierce bonus to Energy and Plasma attacks correctly increased +30% → +50%
    • Permastall
      • Stun duration bonus increased +50% → +75%
    • Roguelite has had a major overhaul to weaken lower rarity cards while significantly buffing some of the rare and golden cards. This should hopefully encourage high luck value builds to dig for these stronger cards.

Boss Specific Changes

  • Red Diamond
    • Tier 1 HP reduced 14,000 → 12,000
  • Rutrix Cube
    • Tier 1 HP reduced 9,000 → 8,000
  • Aliens Block
    • Tier 1 HP reduced 7,000 → 6,300
    • Tier 2 HP reduced 31,000 → 30,000
  • Shield Prime
    • Tier 1 HP reduced 3,800 → 3,400
  • The early tiers of bosses can often be so hard that they can wreck your farming for the rest of the game. These tiers have been weakened to give more leeway for farming.

Tower Specific Changes

  • Basic
    • 301 Critical Hit bolt pierce increased 3 → 4
    • 302 Critical Hit bolt pierce increased 5 → 7
    • 5xx Psuedo-Conjurer bolt seek angle reduced 144° → 120°
    • 5xx Psuedo-Conjurer bolt turn rate reduced 432° → 360°
    • x5x Bullet Hell cost reduced $1,400 → $1,300
    • The bottom crosspath for Psuedo-Conjurer has begun to fall significantly behind, so it  now gives extra extra pierce to hopefully even the playing field again. Psuedo-Conjurer itself is already in a high position power-wise so will be receiving yet another set of nerfs, while Bullet Hell is receiving a cost reduction to help it keep up with the rapidly changing meta.
  • Cannon
    • 1xx cost reduced $20 → $15
    • 1xx pierce reduced 13 → 10
    • 3xx Clusters secondary bomb pierce increased 9 → 10
      • Also affects 5xx Blitzkrieg
    • 5xx Blitzkrieg tertiary bomb pierce increased 6 → 8
    • x1x pierce increased 10 → 15
    • x3x Array cost reduced $100 → $90
    • x3x Array pierce increased 12 → 15
    • x4x Blaster cost increased $425 → $450
    • 240 Blaster frag elite bonus increased +2 → +5 (3 → 6 total)
    • 240 Blaster frag aerial bonus increased +1 → +5 (2 → 6 total)
    • x5x Ballistic Shark elite bonus reduced +100 → +90 (101 → 91 total)
    • 250 Ballistic Shark frag elite bonus increased +30 → +45 (31 → 46 total)
    • 250 Ballistic Shark frag aerial bonus increased +15 → +20 (16 → 21 total)
    • Flashing Rain stun duration on multi-skulls reduced 1s → 0.5s
    • Middle path has never been the optimal crosspath and without extensive changes will never be, so these are those exact extensive changes needed! 1xx's old pierce bonus has been transferred to x1x, with price shifting to reflect this. Clusters are seeing buffs to counter the reduced pierce and to make them actually crowd control as intended, while Frag Blasters and higher are receiving large bumps to compensate for their lost pierce. No direct Auto-Turret nerfs; the cannon rework handles that by reducing the pierce of 203, but more nerfs will happily be given if needed.
  • Splitter
    • Base nail projectile speed reduced 300 → 210
    • 1xx nail projectile speed reduced 300 → 260
    • 1xx nail lifespan reduced 0.2333s → 0.2s
    • 2xx cost reduced $50 → $40
    • 2xx nail projectile speed increased 300 → 310
    • 2xx nail lifespan reduced 0.2667s → 0.2s
    • 3xx Oven-Cooked cost increased $110 → $120
    • Some more fine-tuning of the nail attack to make the projectiles expire closer to the actual range of the attack, as well as a compensation buff to 2xx due to this.
  • Freezer
    • 5xx Cold Front base damage increased 1 → 4
    • Cold Front's damage is slightly increasing to hopefully give it extra uses as a secondary area damage option.
  • Flamethrower
    • 3xx Special Flames cost increased $500 → $600
    • 4xx Blockrangs attack speed reduced 0.12s → 0.2s
    • 4xx Blockrangs damage increased 4 → 6
    • 4xx Blockrangs elite bonus increased +10 → +20 (14 → 26 total)
    • 4xx Blockrangs projectile size increased 9.35 → 11.5
    • 5xx Ultraviolet Rangs damage increased 25 → 30
    • 5xx Ultraviolet Rangs elite bonus increased +65 → +150 (90 → 180 total)
    • x1x and x2x planet bonus to 3xx and higher replaced with an elite bonus of the same amount
    • 410 Blockrangs additional elite bonus increased +2 → +6
    • 420 Blockrangs additional elite bonus increased +4 → +12
    • 510 Ultraviolet Rangs additional elite bonus increased +15 → +50
    • 520 Ultraviolet Rangs additional elite bonus increased +30 → +100
    • Top path currently feels too similar to the other two paths due to the high attack speed, so this has been removed in exchange for a sizable elite boost and larger projectiles. Special Flames is being brought up in price as it's too cost efficient, even for a tier 3 upgrade. Middle crosspath Special Flames and higher will now also be more generally useful as the planet bonus is turning into (normal) elite bonuses.
    • x3x Blue Fire cost increased $300 → $400
    • x4x Fire Lord cost increased $1,000 → $1,400
    • x4x Fire Lord damage increased 3 → 4
    • 240 Fire Lord damage increased 6 → 8
    • x5x Infernal Inferno damage increased 15 → 20
    • 250 Infernal Inferno damage increased 30 → 40
    • Middle path has gotten several price drops in the past, resulting in it dropping from a premium tier to a relatively affordable and budget option which for the most expensive base tower feels off, so both the tiers 3 and 4 are moving back up to the premium price tier, with Fire Lord being handed extra base damage to help it clear through the midgame better than ever. The tier 5 will inherit this buff to compensate for the increased price of the earlier upgrades.
    • xx3 Holy Volcano cost reduced $1,850 → $1,350
    • xx3 Holy Volcano attack speed reduced 0.05s → 0.07s
    • xx4 Megacolossal Sphinx attack speed remains at 0.06s
    • As for bottom path, the tier 3 upgrade being more than double the price of both the 3xx and x3x upgrades combined resulted in this path feeling way too unaffordable way too early into the upgrade tree so will get a massive price drop. The reduced attack speed does make it an overall nerf.
    • xx5 Paragon of the Underworld
      • Eject point of all attacks moved forward
      • Military Tributes
        • All missiles projectile speed increased 390 → 490
        • All missiles lifespan increased 1s → 1.5s
        • v1 damage increased 1 → 10
        • v1 elite bonus increased +100 → +120 (101 → 130 total)
        • v1 pierce increased 16 → 25
        • v1 blast radius increased 52 → 65
        • v2 attack speed reduced 0.66s → 1.32s
        • v2 elite bonus increased +100 → +240 (101 → 250 total)
        • v3 damage, pierce and blast radius unchanged
        • v3 elite bonus increased +200 → +240 (210 → 250 total)
        • v3 aerial bonus increased +50 → +80 (60 → 90 total)
        • v4 attack speed reduced 0.33s → 1.32s
        • v4 elite bonus increased +200 → +450 (210 → 460 total)
        • v4 aerial bonus increased +50 → +150 (60 → 160 total)
        • v6 elite bonus increased +400 → +900 (410 → 910 total)
        • v6 aerial bonus increased +50 → +300 (60 → 310 total)
      • Omni
        • All razors lifespan increased 1s → 2s
    • To end off this huge list of flamethrower changes, Paragon of the Underworld's military missiles are now firing slower but packing a massively larger punch per hit, and all attacks are now able to fly across the whole map without expiring.
  • Buffer
    • 5xx Universal Powder cost increased $2,650 → $2,850
    • x1x cost increased $35 → $40
    • x4x Mobile SAM cost increased $230 → $275
    • x5x Cyan Chimes cost increased $3,200 → $3,400
    • Mobile SAM has proven way too useful and has resulted in high projectile count towers dominating the meta, so is seeing a sturdy price hike. Tier 5 buffers are receiving yet more nerfs as they remain extremely powerful and cost efficient. The range boost to nearby towers was also too powerful compared to the 2xx self-range upgrade so it's received a tiny shift up in cost.
  • Ship
    • 2xx cost reduced $45 → $40
    • 3xx Military Boat cost reduced $300 → $250
    • 4xx Battleship cost increased $1,000 → $1,050
    • 520 Ace Carrier plane-bullets burn tickrate increased 0.15s → 0.05s
    • x1x fruit lifespan reduced 0.5s → 0.3s
    • 011 fruit lifespan reduced 0.6333s → 0.4s
    • x4x Plagiarism bullet damage increased 1 → 2
    • x4x Plagiarism fruit attack speed reduced 0.7s → 1.4s
    • x4x Plagiarism burn damage increased 1 → 3
    • x4x Plagiarism bomb damage increased 2 → 3
    • x5x Bluebeard bullet damage increased 8 → 10
    • x5x Bluebeard bomb and burn damage increased 10 → 15
    • xx3 Trading Faction cost reduced $250 → $240
    • xx5 Alliance Exchange cost reduced $2,900 → $2,400
    • xx5 Alliance Exchange income multiplier to self reduced x10 → x5
    • Silver's Return fruit projectile speed reduced 450 → 432
    • Silver's Return fruit lifespan reduced 0.4s → 0.3s
    • Silver's Return frag pierce increased 1 → 3
    • Military Boat has been needing of a bit of help. Alliance Exchange's last price hike made it unviable as a supporting tower in Planet mode, so alongside the buffer nerfs and Trading Faction buff, this minor rework should give it a bit more usage there while keeping it almost identical for normal gameplay. The fruit lifespan is lowering to hopefully reduce lag, especially for the Silver's Return, while fruit attack speed is being cut from the x4x and x5x to reduce lag and transferring into extra bomb and burn damage.
  • Hangar
    • Plane auto-targeting is now restricted to xx1
    • Plane reworked to properly retarget each block individually after 1.5s
    • 4xx Military Jet eject point of all attacks moved forward slightly
    • 5xx Prototype B eject point of all attacks moved forward slightly
    • UCD bullet projectile speed increased 600 → 660
    • [bugfix] UCD missile explosion planet bonus increased +15 → +39 (54 → 78 total)
    • UCD cube explosion damage type changed Omniversal → Explosion
    • The auto-targeting change made hangars too powerful early game, so this restriction is a middle ground, and also gives the bottom crosspath extra uses over the pure DPS top or middle crosspaths. The UCD is receiving polishing, with the cubes losing the ability to damage all Rutrix Cube phases as that was a topping for an already great Galactic upgrade.
  • Acid Launcher
    • 2xx cost reduced $40 → $35
    • 4xx Degrowth Solution cost increased $550 → $575
    • The 2xx has been a forgettable upgrade so is receiving a price cut to help it be more affordable early game, with the cost shifting up into Degrowth Solution.
  • Friskus
    • 1xx reworked to properly rehit each block individually after 0.5s
    • 3xx Targeted Discs frisbees can now rehit blocks after 0.45s
    • 4xx Weapons Upgrades frisbees can now rehit blocks after 0.3s
    • 5xx Ultimate Frisbee mini-frisbees unchanged
    • Top path losing the core rehit mechanic after tier 3 wasn't quite right, so they'll now permanently keep this ability. Ultimate Frisbee's mini-frisbees won't receive this new rehitting bonus yet so it doesn't feel too drastic of a change. Alternate Trio also won't be getting changes either as a complete overhaul is planned soon :)
    • x4x Iron Alloy transform attack speed increased 0.2393s → 0.2094s
    • x5x Golden Alloy base attack speed increased 0.2393s → 0.2094s
    • x5x Golden Alloy transformed attack speed increased 0.1196s → 0.1047s
    • 150 Golden Alloy transform1 rehit speed reduced 0.4s → 0.5s
    • 150 Golden Alloy transform2 rehit speed reduced 0.3667s → 0.5s
    • Alternate Trio transform2 damage type changed Omniversal → Sharp
    • As more and more alternatives have begun to pop up, the damage of middle path even when transformed wasn't near high enough to justify their downtime so the alloys will now hit even faster when activated. 
  • Light Keeper
    • 014 Optical Focusing focus pierce increased 7 → 8
    • 024 Optical Focusing focus pierce increased 10 → 12
    • Buffing the underused pierce crosspath a little, but not too much that this upgrade becomes overpowered again.
  • Airhorn
    • 3xx Disruptor Horn cost reduced $165 → $135
    • 4xx Sonic Boom cost reduced $500 → $400
    • 5xx Mach 12 cost reduced $2,750 → $2,450
    • xx1 cost increased $30 → $40
    • xx3 Hair Dryer cost reduced $120 → $110
    • Looking back at the stats, top path Airhorns were outcompeted by Acids in basically every way, so they'll be pushed completely out of the price range of the latter. And yet another early Airhorn upgrade takes a price hike.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed gold border being obtainable even without beating all game modes or difficulties
  • Fixed multiple bosses not being able to trigger overtime
  • Fixed multiple bosses in Sandbox not working correctly
  • Fixed Ship and Airhorn categories being set to Primary by default
  • Fixed 3xx Friskus projectile speed being affected by range modifiers
  • Fixed xx4 Optical Focusing beams having infinite length instead of ending at the mouse/target
