Version 6.0 - Patch Notes!
Blocks TD - v6.1 » Devlog
Happy 1 year anniversary!
A final round of polishing and balance changes. Enjoy :D
New Stuff
- New map: Energy Shield!
- Looks can be deceiving - what appears to be an easy single-lane map isn't as unguarded as you think (ft. removable obstacles!)
- Ok, if anyone even comes close to figuring out the reference this time, I will be shocked.
- New galactic: Airhorn!
- The Technological Ruins can charge up a powerful inferno, but beware! Regularly turn it off or there *may* be consequences - even the most technologically advanced objects are prone to overheating...
- Overhauled RNG algorithm once again
- This new system should be much more random and unpredictable, using an experimental psuedo-rng algorithm!
- Another change is EVERY random aspect of the game is now influenced by the seed, including random spread, random track attacks, and plane rng! Note that "game rng" is less deterministic and a small change to a setup can drastically affect it, but the same exact string of events should result in the same outcomes on the same seed.
Game Mode Specific Changes
- Accelerated Rounds
- Round 1 Basic count reduced 55 → 35
- Round 39 PurpleSkull count reduced 150 → 75
- Round 49 DoubleSkull count increased 11 → 22
- Round 55 GreenSkulls replaced with Saturns
- Changing up this game mode to not throw as much cash money in the early rounds while bumping up the lategame considerably.
Tower Specific Changes
- Basic
- Unstable Conjurer of Hell eject point of crushers moved forward slightly
- Small non-stat changes to make each galactic feel a bit more polished.
- Cannon
- 2xx cost reduced $55 → $45
- 2xx frag count reduced 6 → 4
- 2xx frag size reduced 4.55 → 3.25
- 2xx frag pierce can now be buffed
- 3xx Clusters and higher stats unchanged
- x1x cost reduced $15 → $10
- x4x Blaster cost increased $420 → $425
- xx4 Flash Bomb damage increased 2 → 6
- 024 Flash Bomb aerial bonus increased +2 → +6 (4 → 12 total)
- xx5 Smoke Blasts damage increased 8 → 12
- 025 Smoke Blasts aerial bonus increased +8 → +12 (16 → 24 total)
- Flashing Rain eject point of bombs moved forward slightly
- Frags are currently one of the few projectiles to not be affected by pierce buffs. In exchange for getting this and a small price cut, they'll be smaller and there'll be less frags per bomb. Clusters and higher will be unaffected by these changes. Flash Bomb remains heavily underused so it's receiving a hefty damage boost to help it stand out from other support towers, and to give it some extra power against grouped rounds.
- Splitter
- 2xx cost increased $45 → $50
- x4x Razor Flurry cost reduced $400 → $350
- x5x Supreme Flurry cost reduced $2,100 → $1,800
- xx3 Nail Sprayer cost reduced $210 → $200
- xx4 Red Death cost increased $725 → $730
- Restricted Zone eject point of nails moved forward slightly
- Middle path splitters are still among the least used towers in the game so are getting overall buffs. Nail Sprayer is also outclassed by other options but Red Death is holding well.
- Freezer
- 5xx Cold Front cost reduced $2,050 → $2,000
- x4x Hail Storm passive freeze duration increased 4.8s → 15s
- x4x Hail Storm passive freeze duration on elites increased 2.4s → 7.5s
- 140 Hail Storm passive freeze duration increased 9.6s → 30s
- 140 Hail Storm passive freeze duration on elites increased 4.8s → 15s
- x5x Avalanche passive freeze duration increased 20s → 30s
- x5x Avalanche passive freeze duration on elites increased 10s → 15s
- x5x Avalanche passive freeze strength on multi-skulls increased 40% → 50%
- 150 Avalanche passive freeze duration increased 40s → 60s
- 150 Avalanche passive freeze duration on elites increased 20s → 30s
- 051 Avalanche passive freeze strength on multi-skulls increased 60% → 65%
- xx3 Extreme Ice freeze duration increased 2.4s → 4s
- xx3 Extreme Ice freeze duration on elites reduced 2.4s → 2s
- 103 Extreme Ice freeze duration increased 4.8s → 8s
- 103 Extreme Ice freeze duration on elites reduced 4.8s → 4s
- these changes also affect xx4 Shattering Nad explosion freeze duration
- Middle path freezers remain too unreliable and too weak compared to the bottom path, so the slowdown duration has been drastically increased and the slowdown strength increased for the tier 5 to help them compete better. Bottom path was the only freezer path to not have reduced freeze duration on elites so this has been remedied. Cold Front remains niche so is receiving another price drop (fun fact, it's now $800 cheaper than it was at launch!)
- Flamethrower
- x4x Fire Lord burn damage increased 4 → 8
- Fire Lord is a jack of all trades, master of none, but at the same time doesn't need much more to be viable.
- Buffer
- xx3 Printer cost reduced $140 → $130
- xx4 Hexablock cost reduced $550 → $520
- With the recent boss changes, the first couple tiers have been noted to be quite a lot harder so farming towers have been price cut to counteract this extra difficulty.
- Ship
- x3x Piracy frag size reduced 4.55 → 3.25
- x3x Piracy frag pierce can now be buffed
- xx4 Trade Empire cost reduced $400 → $350
- Silver's Return eject point of fruit and bombs moved forward slightly
- Silver's Return frag pierce can now be buffed
- Same as Cannon changes earlier, except since ship bombs already split into 4 frags there'll be no other changes aside from the size reduction.
- Hangar
- [bugfix] xx4 Mine Field and xx5 Mysterious Traps explosion pierce correctly reduced by 1
- xx4 Mine Field contact damage removed
- xx4 Mine Field explosion damage increased 12 → 16
- 204 Mine Field explosion damage increased 18 → 24
- xx5 Mysterious Traps mine sprite completely overhauled
- xx5 Mysterious Traps contact damage removed
- xx5 Mysterious Traps explosion damage increased 250 → 350
- 205 Mysterious Traps explosion damage increased 375 → 525
- Hangar's bottom path has been in an awkward spot mechanic-wise now that middle path Airhorn accomplishes a similar position. Contact damage has been completely removed along with the mines' contact pierce being set to 1, but explosion damage has been bumped up significantly across the tier 4 and 5.
- Acid Launcher
- Dissolving Gambit eject point of acid bullets moved forward slightly
- Friskus
- 5xx Ultimate Frisbee main frisbee damage reduced 20 → 10
- 5xx Ultimate Frisbee main frisbee pierce increased 1 → 40
- 5xx Ultimate Frisbee main frisbee bounce distance increased 120 → Infinite
- 5xx Ultimate Frisbee mini frisbee count reduced 12 → 8
- 502 Ultimate Frisbee main frisbee damage reduced 30 → 15
- Alternate Trio eject point of frisbees moved forward slightly
- Alternate Trio all frisbees bounce distance increased 120 → Infinite
- Ultimate Frisbee reducing the pierce of the main frisbees was strange considering the previous upgrades all increase pierce, so the pierce of the main attack now stays at 40 at the cost of some single target damage.
- Airhorn
- 2xx cost increased $15 → $20
- Range is much more important to Airhorns than other towers so this upgrade is receiving a small price increase to reflect this.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Random mode round generation being too accelerated if combined with Projectile Morph
- Fixed some issues and crashes with Projectile Morph
- Fixed a crash when reloading a boss save while the boss is active
Final Comments
With other, larger projects being worked on, this probably marks the end of Blocks TD content updates. Balance changes and small updates will still come monthly though so don't worry too much.
Why am I even writing this? Like 2 people will actually get down here... but for those 2 people...
Thanks for supporting me, and stay tuned for some Builatro! coming late 2024!
